Cleaning Your Mic Before Inserting Into A Microphone Pouch
You should be extra cautious when cleaning your microphone so that you do not damage it in any way. Let’s start with WHY you need to clean your mic… here are the main reasons:
Dust gets trapped inside your mic when not covered. Because of excessive dust build-up, your recordings can stop your vocals from sounding as clearly as they should.
Spit build-up. When you talk into your microphone, you can let out spit without noticing. Cleaning this out with soap will ensure that it does not carry any germs or bacteria
It absorbs smells. Let’s say you are in a room full of cigarettes for example. If your microphone is exposed to this, it can still smell like this for days afterward.

Let’s say you share a microphone with another individual. Wouldn’t you want to make sure that the mic is completely clean before you touch it? You never know what kind of dirt is trapped inside of it, which is why cleaning it will give you a more comfortable feeling. Here are steps to the safest way to clean your microphone:
Start with removing your microphones grille. Inside the grille, you will find where all of the dirt and debris is hanging around. There should be no problem with the grille removal; Just tug it back and forth gently to remove it or unscrew. Be careful with the removal process, as you do not want to yank it and damage other parts.
When your grille is removed, fill a small cup with room temperature water from the sink. You will then mix soap with the room temperature water (we suggest dish detergent). Squeeze a small amount of dish soap into the water and mix. Take a toothbrush that has softer bristles on it and dip it into the soapy water to begin the cleaning process. Lightly scrub your toothbrush against the grill thoroughly to remove any excess dirt and dust.
Once your grill is cleaned, you must let it dry before screwing it back onto the rest of the device. We suggest air drying, but some individuals like to use a blow dryer on low heat to speed up the process. The choice is up to you on how you wish to dry your microphone after cleaning.
